| My local VW shop put in new fuel lines, and somebody pointed out that "non-road" was printed prominently on the side. ( http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=651414 ). So I got back into the engine and took some pictures of the lines. The line says: "GATES 4219 BF Barricade Fuel Injection Hose 5/16" [7.9mm] 225 PSI.... CARB No. Q-09-019A, EPA Compliant FGTSPLINEBF1 Non-road Fuel lines (<15g/m2/day) Made in U.S.A. SAE 30R14T2 2015" As far as I can tell, this is Gates Barricade Fuel Injection Marine Hose (see picture below). So, do people think this is OK??? I find a lot of the information contradictory. If it says non-road, then why does the factory sheet say it is for "cars, light trucks, off-road vehicles etc". If it is fuel injection then why dies it meet SAE 30R14T2 instead of 30R9? Thanks! I know somebody here knows if this is OK or not. Josh

| While others had piled in on the "not for road use" I do not. Tell me about all those headlight upgrades that are super bright. Most are not DOT approved. | the 30r14t2 standard has about 1/4th the burst pressure rating of 30R9 standard, that is the main differance I see in the specifications. Of course this hose could exceed the 30R14 rating too. the rating is a minimum requirement, not a maximum. non road use could be a regulatory thing. I california it is now illegal to use some hoses on some smog controlled vehicles. use may fail a smog test. I do not believe it is required at this time on vehicles as old as the vanagon , at least not yet. may van was onced failed for an aftermarket emissions hose. (not a fuel hose) The hose in that case was 100% functional, actually better than stock materials, yet it failed as it did not have the correct part number. bastard smog laws!!!! Do note the OP lives in the district of Columbia. Politicians get away with murder so I don't see how would a non-road use hose hurt anyone, or be busted. Never mind. | this stuff is fine, the size is fine, i find it sometimes it's tight on some of the fittings, 5/16" is fine, i've gone though several hundred feet of this stuff. you should not have any issues with it, use the correct clamps. oetiker

the 5/16 stuff works fine just use quality fi rated clamps. been running 5/16 hose for decades on the 7 mm stuff, no problems. Stop introducing dirt into your oil when adjusting valves ... https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=683022 | |||
